You do not need to arrive at a fitting knowing exactly what suit you want. You might have a wedding date, a photograph you like, or a jacket at home that has never fit properly. We will talk through those things before choosing cloth or details.
At the first fitting
We look at your posture, shoulders, and proportions, then take measurements for an individual pattern. Just as important, we talk about how you want to look and feel. Do you prefer a jacket with a little room and softness, or a closer line? Where should the trousers sit? How often will you wear the finished suit?
You do not need to know the tailoring vocabulary. We can show you what a change in lapel, jacket length, trouser rise, or leg shape does to the overall silhouette.
Choosing cloth and details
Fabric is both a visual and practical decision. A travel suit may call for a cloth that recovers well from a day in a suitcase. An evening garment can invite a different texture or finish. We bring out fabrics that suit the garment's purpose, then look at them in the light and handle them together.
Buttons, pockets, lining, and other details follow. Some are there to give the suit character; others quietly improve how it wears. We explain how each choice affects the finished suit, so you can decide what you like.
From pattern to final fitting
Once the cloth and design are settled, your individual pattern is developed and the garment is cut. Subsequent fittings let us see how the garment sits and moves on your body. We refine the shoulder, balance, length, and shape before the final details are finished. The process generally takes three to four months.
At the last fitting, bring the shirt and shoes you plan to wear with the suit. Sit down, walk, and reach forward as well as looking in the mirror. Those everyday movements help you judge how comfortable the garment will be.
Throughout the fittings, describe what you feel as well as what you see. A sleeve that catches when you reach or trousers that feel uncomfortable when seated are useful observations. You do not need the technical term to explain what needs attention.
